Launched in the summer of 2019, Flight Crew is a pathway for teens to explore careers in conservation, environmental education, and outdoor education and recreation, and gain relevant work experience in these fields.
Flight Crew is a summer conservation corps job. Over the course of eight weeks, Flight Crew members will complete conservation projects while exploring career opportunities and networking with professionals in the field. They will also be trained in facilitating outdoor education, mentoring youth, and first aid/CPR in preparation for our Little Creek Summer Camp where they will serve as camp counselors for three weeks.
Flight Crew bridges three of our major programs, RiverVision Leadership Project, Conservation Leadership Crew and Little Creek Summer Camp (LCSC). We hire Flight Crew teens predominantly from schools that participate in our RiverVision Leadership Project and Conservation Leadership Crew.

Similarly, high school students may spend their weeklong spring break at Riverlands. This paid job opportunity will provide five to ten St. Louis region teens with real work experience, career exposure, and networking opportunities in the field of environmental conservation and sustainability.
- This program supports the goals of the Gateway to Green Careers project by providing new sustainability and conservation focused job opportunities for teens in the St. Louis region.
- Learning topics will include themes of water quality and conservation, environmental justice trainings, wildlife habitat management, land management including invasive species removal, and more. Teens will also assist in habitat management and other conservation projects happening on site at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
