It's so much more than just a place to log your bird sightings!

In a highly connected world eBird is the social media of birders. It is an online database (and now mobile app) where birders can enter observations in real time. It has become a huge resource for birders all over the world! Birders can now go to eBird to find out where certain species are being found, what's being found in their area and look at trends that are occurring in specific bird species' population.

It's not just for birders though. Anyone with a backyard and (hopefully) birds in it can use eBird. Logging what you see in your own backyard on eBird means that anyone in the world can look at your data and learn more about the bird population in your yard and around the world. The data is accessible to anyone around the world and is used to help learn more about bird population changes, diversity and the overall health of our birds.

Using eBird is also fun! When you log the species you've observed on eBird, your observations are saved meaning a comprehensive list is kept for you so you know what birds you've seen and what birds you haven't seen. eBird is also the platform used for global and national bird-watching events such as the Great Backyard Bird Count. With eBird you can learn more about the birds that live around you and around the world!

When you use eBird you are helping to save birds around the world! Please give eBird a try!
